Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to RoboSelf and the Investapp software, including research, strategy, simulation, broker-connectivity, subscription, and automation features.

Effective and last updated: July 17, 2026 · Version terms-2026-07-17-us-ca-v2

1. Agreement and legal package

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and RoboSelf, the operator of the Investapp service (collectively, “RoboSelf,” “Investapp,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). “Service” means our websites, applications, APIs, software, data displays, strategy tools, AI features, simulations, broker connections, automation, and related services.

By selecting a checkbox or button that expressly states you agree to these Terms, you accept them. If you act for an organization, you represent that you can bind it. If you do not agree, do not create an account, purchase a subscription, or use the Service. Where applicable law permits acceptance through another clearly disclosed electronic action, the notice presented with that action will explain its effect before you proceed.

The Trading Risk Disclosure, AI Disclaimer, any applicable Beta Program Terms, and plan or transaction terms shown at checkout are incorporated into these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

2. Eligibility and account authority

  • You must be at least the age of majority where you live and legally able to enter this agreement.
  • You may use the Service only where it is lawful and only for brokerage accounts and data you own or are authorized to control.
  • You must provide accurate account information, keep it current, and not impersonate another person or conceal a prohibited location or use.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping passwords, multifactor-authentication methods, API keys, access tokens, and devices confidential.

Notify us promptly at security@roboself.app if you reasonably suspect unauthorized access. We may require identity or authority verification before restoring access or acting on a request.

3. Self-directed design; scope and limitations

The Service supplies user-directed software tools for research, analytics, strategy creation, optimization, backtesting, paper trading, monitoring, portfolio analysis, and, where enabled, transmission of user-authorized order instructions. RoboSelf does not hold customer cash or securities, open or carry brokerage accounts, clear or settle trades, make markets, or issue broker statements or trade confirmations.

Unless a separate written notice for a feature states otherwise, RoboSelf does not undertake by these Terms to act as your broker, dealer, investment adviser, portfolio manager, commodity trading adviser, fiduciary, custodian, exchange, clearing agency, transfer agent, tax adviser, or legal adviser. The Service does not evaluate your complete financial circumstances, obligations, or ability to bear loss. Nothing in these Terms excludes a status, relationship, duty, or remedy that applicable law imposes based on the Service's actual conduct.

Analytics, rankings, model portfolios, templates, signals, alerts, sentiment, risk scores, backtests, AI outputs, community content, and order previews are presented as informational software outputs. They can be incomplete or wrong and may resemble or contain directive, predictive, or recommendation-like language. Do not assume an output is suitable for you or independently verified. You decide whether and how to use it and should obtain qualified advice when needed. Disclosures do not change the legal character of actual conduct, and we may restrict a feature where regulatory review requires it.

4. Your decisions and responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

  • selecting instruments, markets, strategies, data, parameters, schedules, position sizes, order types, and risk controls;
  • reviewing strategy logic, AI output, calculations, data quality, permissions, account type, buying power, and every order or automation configuration;
  • testing before live use and continuously monitoring live and paper deployments, broker activity, alerts, errors, and account statements;
  • deciding when to enable, pause, modify, or stop a strategy, and independently confirming the result with your broker;
  • obtaining any financial, investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice you need; and
  • complying with market rules, securities and derivatives laws, broker agreements, taxes, reporting duties, and other laws that apply to you.

5. Automated trading authorization

When you enable an automated or autonomous feature, you instruct and authorize the Service to generate and transmit order instructions to the connected broker according to the strategy, permissions, schedules, parameters, and controls you selected. Individual orders may be generated or transmitted without an additional prompt or approval. You remain responsible for that authorization and the resulting activity.

Pausing, disabling, deleting, or disconnecting a strategy may not be immediate during an outage and does not reverse a completed trade, guarantee cancellation of an open order, close an existing position, or stop an instruction already transmitted. You must check the broker’s own system and contact the broker when necessary. Risk controls, stop orders, caps, alerts, and kill switches can fail, trigger late, or execute at an unexpected price.

6. Brokers, SnapTrade, and order handling

You may connect an account directly or through an integration provider such as SnapTrade. The integration provider and each broker are independent third parties with their own agreements and privacy practices. You authorize us to exchange account, permission, position, balance, transaction, order, and related data with them as needed to provide the connection and the features you request.

Your broker—not RoboSelf—decides whether to accept, reject, route, execute, cancel, clear, or settle an order and remains responsible for account carrying, custody, confirmations, and statements. SnapTrade provides connectivity and order-transmission infrastructure where used; it is not controlled by RoboSelf. We do not guarantee that any connection, permission, quote, balance, position, order status, fill, or cancellation is accurate, current, complete, or available.

If the Service conflicts with broker records, treat the broker’s records as authoritative and investigate promptly. You are responsible for broker fees, commissions, spreads, exchange and regulatory fees, interest, borrowing costs, taxes, and losses.

7. Trading, strategy, and technology risks

Trading can cause rapid and total loss. Automated strategies can amplify losses before you can intervene. Market volatility, gaps, liquidity, leverage, margin, short positions, derivatives, crypto assets, currency movements, slippage, partial fills, order rejection, stale data, and technology failures can materially change outcomes. The complete, non-exhaustive disclosure is in the Trading Risk Disclosure.

8. Backtests, optimization, and paper trading

Backtests and simulations are hypothetical. They may contain survivorship, selection, look-ahead, optimization, and data-snooping bias; omit delisted instruments or corporate actions; use imperfect pricing; and assume fills, liquidity, fees, borrowing, latency, and market access that would not have existed. Repeated optimization can overfit historical noise. Historical or simulated performance does not predict live results.

Paper trading does not put simulated capital at market risk, but it can report unrealistic fills, liquidity, timing, spreads, borrowing, market impact, and execution. It also cannot reproduce the financial and behavioural pressures of live trading. A profitable backtest or paper deployment may lose money immediately in a live account.

9. Artificial intelligence

AI can hallucinate, omit material facts, use stale or biased information, misread data, misunderstand your intent, and generate faulty research, code, rules, parameters, or strategies. You must independently inspect and test all AI output before relying on it or applying it to a strategy or account. The AI Disclaimer applies to every AI-enabled feature.

10. Beta and experimental features

A feature identified as beta, preview, pilot, early access, experimental, or pre-release may be incomplete, unstable, changed without backward compatibility, or removed. It may lose or reset data and is not intended for mission-critical use. The Beta Program Terms also apply to those features.

11. Third-party data and services

Market data, news, filings, fundamentals, broker data, model output, analytics inputs, and other content may come from third parties. They may be delayed, adjusted, inaccurate, incomplete, inconsistent, or unavailable and may be subject to separate license restrictions. Display labels such as “real time” describe the expected feed and are not a latency guarantee. Verify critical information using your broker and authoritative sources.

We may link to or interoperate with third-party services. We do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their availability, security, acts, terms, or content. Your use of them is between you and the third party.

12. Subscriptions, trials, billing, cancellation, and refunds

  • Prices, currency, billing interval, included features, trial terms, discounts, and taxes are shown before checkout and may vary by plan or location.
  • Paid subscriptions renew automatically for the interval selected until cancelled. Unless checkout states otherwise, a trial converts to the displayed paid plan at the end of the trial.
  • Stripe processes payments. We generally receive payment and transaction metadata, not full card details.
  • You may cancel through the billing portal. Cancellation ordinarily takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you retain access until then unless law, security, or misuse requires earlier suspension.
  • Fees are non-refundable except where the checkout terms say otherwise or applicable law requires a refund or cancellation right. Plan downgrades and feature changes generally take effect at the next renewal.
  • Failed or reversed payments may result in retry attempts, suspension, downgrade, or cancellation. You remain responsible for accrued charges and applicable taxes.

Nothing in these Terms limits a non-waivable consumer cancellation, disclosure, renewal, chargeback, or refund right. If mandatory law conflicts with this section, that law controls.

13. User content, shared strategies, and community features

You retain ownership of original strategies, prompts, posts, comments, files, and other content you submit (“User Content”). You grant RoboSelf a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, modify for technical formatting, transmit, display, and otherwise use User Content only to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service and to share it when you direct us to make it public.

Public content may be copied, discussed, modified, or relied on by others. Do not publish confidential information, broker credentials, personal data you lack authority to disclose, or content that infringes another person’s rights. Community popularity, backtest results, labels, and rankings are not endorsements or recommendations. We may moderate or remove content but do not undertake to review everything.

14. Limited license and intellectual property

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for your own lawful purposes during your account term. RoboSelf and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, including software, interfaces, designs, documentation, trademarks, compilation, and system-generated content, excluding your User Content.

You may not:

  • copy, sell, sublicense, rent, distribute, or commercially exploit the Service except through an expressly permitted feature;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, discover source code or models, scrape, crawl, or extract data except where a prohibition is not allowed by law;
  • bypass access controls, plan limits, safety controls, rate limits, or technical restrictions;
  • use the Service to build or benchmark a competing product without written permission; or
  • remove ownership notices or misuse RoboSelf names, marks, or branding.

15. Acceptable use and market integrity

You may not use the Service for unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or unauthorized activity, including market manipulation, spoofing, layering, wash trading, front-running, misuse of material non-public information, sanctions evasion, infringement, harassment, malware, credential theft, denial-of-service activity, unauthorized account access, or attempts to interfere with another user, provider, broker, exchange, or market.

You must comply with applicable export controls and economic sanctions. You may not use the Service if you are prohibited from receiving it or from a territory where access is unlawful. We may impose rate limits, usage limits, geographic restrictions, and additional controls to protect users, providers, markets, and the Service.

16. Feedback

If you voluntarily provide product suggestions or non-confidential feedback, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use it without compensation or attribution. This does not transfer ownership of your private strategies, personal information, or other User Content merely because it appears in a bug report; those remain governed by the sections above and the Privacy Policy.

17. Privacy and security

Our Privacy Policy describes the information we process and the providers involved. No system is completely secure. You must use reasonable account safeguards, enable multifactor authentication where available, limit broker permissions to what you need, and promptly revoke compromised credentials with the relevant provider or broker.

18. Changes, availability, and service limits

We may add, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue features, providers, data, plans, limits, or the Service. We do not promise an uptime level, recovery time, data-retention period, feature roadmap, or support response unless a separate signed agreement expressly says so. We will give notice of material adverse changes when required by law or reasonably practical.

Keep independent copies of information you need and maintain a broker-side method to review and control your account. Service maintenance, security incidents, market events, provider changes, or legal requirements may interrupt access without advance notice.

19. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account, subject to subscription charges, legal retention, and broker-side activity. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe there is non-payment, a security threat, unlawful or abusive conduct, market-integrity risk, a breach of these Terms, third-party withdrawal, or legal or regulatory need.

Termination does not automatically cancel broker orders or close positions. You must verify those directly with the broker. Provisions that by nature should survive—including ownership, payment, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, disputes, and accrued rights—continue after termination.

20. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and all data, content, models, integrations, simulations, and outputs are provided “as is” and “as available.” RoboSelf disclaims express, implied, and statutory warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, security, and quiet enjoyment.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, profitable, suitable, compatible with a broker, or free of harmful components; that data or output will be current or correct; that an order will be submitted, cancelled, accepted, or filled; or that a control will prevent loss. No support communication or output creates a warranty not stated in these Terms.

21. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RoboSelf and its owners, personnel, affiliates, and suppliers will not be liable for trading or investment losses; lost profits, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, or data; replacement-service costs; or indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to the Service, even if advised that such loss was possible.

This includes loss associated with market movement, user configuration, AI output, strategy logic, automated orders, broker or integration conduct, data errors, outages, security events, order rejection, delay, duplication, failure to cancel, slippage, partial fills, tax consequences, or inability to access the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid to RoboSelf for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) CAD $100. These exclusions and limits do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any mandatory consumer remedy. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

22. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RoboSelf and its owners, personnel, affiliates, and suppliers from third-party claims, damages, judgments, penalties, and reasonable legal costs arising from your unlawful use of the Service, breach of these Terms, unauthorized account activity, market manipulation, violation of another person’s rights, or User Content. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by the indemnified party’s own fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or other conduct that cannot lawfully be excluded.

23. Events outside reasonable control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including market or exchange closure, trading halt, extreme volatility, telecommunications or internet failure, cloud or power outage, cyberattack, broker or API failure, provider withdrawal, labour dispute, natural disaster, epidemic, war, civil disturbance, government action, or a change in law. This does not excuse payment obligations already incurred or limit rights that cannot be waived.

24. Electronic communications and changes to these Terms

You consent to receive account, security, billing, legal, and service communications electronically. Keep your contact information current. We may update these Terms prospectively. If a change is material, we will provide notice and request renewed acceptance when required or appropriate. Continued use after the stated effective date constitutes acceptance only where permitted by law.

While renewed acceptance is outstanding, we may block new deployments, entries, position increases, or other risk-increasing actions. We may continue to permit risk-reducing exits, cancellations, pauses, stops, or protective actions so an outstanding acceptance does not prevent you from reducing exposure. You must still monitor and control the broker account directly; neither the Service nor this policy guarantees that a risk-reducing action will be available, timely, accepted, or filled.

25. Governing law and disputes

Before filing a claim, please send a description to legal@roboself.app and allow 30 days for a good-faith attempt to resolve it. This does not pause a limitation period unless the law says it does.

Subject to mandatory law, these Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located in Toronto, Ontario will have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you retain any non-waivable rights and may be entitled to bring a proceeding in another forum under the law where you live. Nothing here requires arbitration, waives a jury trial, or waives participation in a class proceeding where such a waiver would require jurisdiction-specific consent or be prohibited.

26. General terms and contact

These Terms and the incorporated documents are the entire agreement about the Service unless we sign a separate agreement with you. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent and the rest remains effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, sale, or transfer of the Service, subject to applicable law.

Questions about these Terms may be sent to legal@roboself.app. Privacy questions and rights requests should be sent to privacy@roboself.app.
